What is the ECO Grant?
The Energy Company Obligation Grant (ECO) is a program designed to improve energy efficiency in Great Britain. It places legal obligations on larger energy suppliers to provide energy-saving measures to domestic properties, with a focus on insulation and heating. Additionally, the program aims to support vulnerable consumer groups and reduce carbon emissions, fuel poverty, and maintain energy supply security.
Originally, the ECO2 obligation period was scheduled to end on March 31, 2017, but it was extended by 18 months, known as ‘ECO2t,’ which ended on September 30, 2018. ECO3 began on October 1, 2018, and concluded on March 31, 2022, while ECO4 started on April 1, 2022, and will continue until March 31, 2026. The government has outlined the scheme’s policy in response to the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) consultation.
