The Energy Company Obligation Grant

The program will persist in delivering energy-saving and heating measures to households in Great Britain, with a focus on supporting low-income, vulnerable, and fuel-poor households. Other features of the scheme include mandating that 15% of measures are directed towards rural homes, increasing the proportion of measures that can be carried out by local authorities under flexible eligibility to 25%, and permitting suppliers to fulfill up to 50% of their obligation with innovative products.

The scheme will provide support to households with poor heating systems by allowing the replacement of up to 35,000 broken heating systems per year. It will also promote a multi-measure approach by allowing the replacement of inefficient heating systems (outside of the broken heating system cap) if installed alongside insulation. Lastly, the scheme will require that at least 90,000 solid-walled homes are treated per year, either through solid wall insulation or a combination of other technologies (provided they yield equivalent energy savings).
