The free boiler scheme or the boiler grant is part of the ECO scheme created by the government. The ECO Scheme has been available since July 2022 and the current Eco 4 scheme will end on March 31st 2026. By applying for the free boiler scheme in Manchester, you can receive a grant covering some or all of the cost of a new boiler and other heating solutions.
Once your application is complete, we replace your existing boiler or heating system and replace it with a new boiler. This helps to reduce your energy bills but also carbon emissions, supporting the government’s sustainability targets. Unfortunately, the scheme is not available to all households and you must meet some eligibility. Furthermore, we must also assess your current boiler to ensure it is suitable for an upgrade.
Boiler Scheme Criteria
To be eligible, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Child Benefit
- Pension Guarantee Credit
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)

- Tax Credits (Child Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits)
- Universal Credit
- Housing benefit

If you have any questions on eligibility, please speak to our team. Criteria may also vary on the number of claimants in your home, so we can always give guidance on any factors that may affect your application.
