Government ECO Grants & Schemes
The UK government offers a range of eco grants and schemes designed to encourage homeowners to make energy-efficient improvements to their properties. One of the most well-known schemes is the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), which provides funding for low-income households to install energy-efficient measures, such as insulation and heating upgrades. The scheme is funded by the UK’s major energy suppliers and aims to reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. Homeowners may also be eligible for grants through the Green Homes Grant scheme, which provides funding for up to two-thirds of the cost of energy-efficient home improvements, such as insulation, double-glazed windows, and low-carbon heating systems.
In addition to these national schemes, there are also a number of regional and local initiatives available to homeowners across the UK. For example, the Warmer Homes scheme provides funding for home energy improvements to households in selected areas of England, while the Energy Efficiency Grants scheme is available to homeowners in Scotland. These schemes offer a variety of energy-saving measures, including insulation, heating system upgrades, and solar panel installations. Homeowners should check with their local authorities or energy suppliers to find out what funding is available in their area and what improvements they may be eligible for.
